Highlander Ranch Horse Show

Show will include halter, showmanship (English/Western), English classes (pleasure, hunter/hack, kindergarten hunter, green hunter, working hunter, equitation, dressage), leadline English/Western, Western (pleasure, horsemanship, reining), Trail (English/Western), and speed events (barrels, pole bending, stake race).

There will be different classes for walk/trot and walk/trot/canter, age groups and even a separate class for OPRC members in all the events. Plus, there will not only be daily high point for walk/trot, 13 & under, 14-18, 19+ in English & Western.

Rockwall County Sheriff’s Posse 18th Annual Trail Ride

May 16th, 2009
Location: Sabine Creek Ranch near Royse City, TX

A BBQ lunch is provided at 11:30 am and the ride starts 1:00 pm. There will be a saddle raffle, along with gate prizes. Both a short and longer ride will be available. Tickets are $20.00 for adult riders with children under 12 $5.00. Overnight camping with trailer hookups is available for $25.00 at Sabine Creek Ranch.


Rules for the ride include:

  • No Studs
  • No Alcohol
  • No Firearms (real or toy)
  • Current Coggins Required
  • All participants must follow instructions from Posse members. Posse members are identified by their uniforms and saddle blankets.
  • Riders will remain with the group. Do not leave the group.
  • No riding bareback, in a reckless manner, or double unless a child 6 or under with a responsible adult.
  • No running of horses permitted.
  • No ponying or leading rider-less horses.
  • No abuse will be tolerated. If Posse Members determine a horse unfit for the ride, it will not be allowed. Posse members have the right to refuse any rider participation, if rider, horse or equipment is viewed as a danger to themselves or any other rider. A refund will be given.
  • No stallions
  • Horses prone to kicking MUST have a red ribbon tied to its tail.
  • Trash must be placed in appropriate receptacles.
  • Registration identification (badge) must be worn to participate in lunch and ride.
  • Riders under age 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.


Schedule of events is as follows:

  • 10:00 am Gates open
  • 11:30 am Lunch
  • noon Gate prize drawings
  • 1:00 pm Trail ride begins
  • 2:30 pm (Approximate time) Short ride ends; riders may return to camp.
  • 4:30 pm (Approximate time) Trail ride ends.

Horsemanship Of Today Benefit Trail Ride

LBJ Grasslands - TADRA Point

This trail ride is to benefit 7 yr old Amanda Mauppin who has been diagnosed with a muscular cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma and is currently undergoing 42 weeks of chemo. There will be a fast and slow ride. Registration fee includes a poker run (prize for best hand), a bandana, lunch and entry into a raffle for a 11 x 14 graphite portrait of your horse by local artist Charice Cooper.
